Title
Quiet Riot AKA the Shy Sober Kid Zine
Subject
punk and queer, addiction, sobriety, gender and sexuality
Description
This zine is a collection of stories and illustrations contributed by and made for people who identify as shy and are sober or looking to get sober. The entries are personal reflections on the writers’ relationships with substances, with social anxiety, and with recovery. They detail experiences and reasons for using, as well as reasons for going sober. They also delve into how queerness, race, mental illness/trauma, and involvement in the punk scene interact with one’s relationship to substance use. There is also a discussion about harm reduction concepts, and the role shame plays in addiction and the process of recovery.
